An iconic and seminal piece of Mid Century design: the MEZZADRO stool designed in 1957 by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni features in many major museum collections, including the the Museum of Modern Art NY, and published in many books including Charlotte & Peter Fiell’s 1000 Chairs (published by Taschen).
The stool is produced by Zanotta (who have done so since the 1970s) and is is made up of four components; a stamped, enamelled fire-engine red tractor seat, a large chrome winged bicycle braking screw, a beautifully shaped chrome-plated steel spring/shock absorber stem and a natural coloured steam-treated beech footrest/crossbar, resembling an old farmer’s yoke. This particular seat is a post 1980’s example.
