Mid-Century Modernist Fontana Arte ‘Scalpellato’ Crystal & Brass Table Lamp, Italy 1940s

For sale a stunning and extremely rare Italian Mid-Century Modernist table lamp, in the manner of Pietro Chiesa for Fontana Arte, circa 1940s.

The lamp consists of an oval opaline glass shade, with brass finial and stem, mounted on a grid-etched ‘Scalpellato’ crystal glass base. The lamp is in working order, has its original wiring and in-line switch and gives off a lovely diffused light. In good vintage condition, with patina & wear commensurate with 70+ years of age and use. For the sake of accuracy, the stem has a slight lean to it and the chiselled base probably has some none intended chips but difficult to judge and certainly nothing to detract.
